i agree the whole premise is built around control. they will try to own your allegiance and then when you are beaten down (figurative) and sit in the hall like a form of cancer until the BOE decide your ready to join, they praise god (FDS)for the loving arraingment.

by I quit! inif it were done by a group of children in school to another student the school would consider it a form of bullying.
are dubs bullying other dubs when they do this?
to me it seems like a form childish behavior that you would only expect to see in grade school..

so on the "up" side...
by elderelite inits a "worldly" holiday and both my daughter and i are at home, not in service.
i got up, made us breakfast, (sausage and eggs) and now i'm playing on jw net.. on the downside, my wife and son are out in service and i have to sit down and put together my service groups time and turn that in to the secretary... (although my son didnt want to go.. he complained "cant we just have a chill day".. i was going to let him stay home but he changed his mind to go see a friend who said he was also going out...).
all you active jw's... did you or are you going out..or are you ditching?.

i always avoid service on the holidays, the last thing i would want to see on a holiday are a pair of over dressed individuals with extra wide smiles showing me magazines that condemn my pagan worldy life. i had a veteran tell me while i was at his door on veterans day " do you people ever show respect for anyone". made sense to me

Youths and Young Adults Missing in my Congregation

all were vibrant and zealous members.
some conducted bible studies, some were dedicated and quite enthusiastic in the "truth".. .

my 16 yo son was heading for baptism even going over questions i could see he was only doing it for us (i mean mom) and a girl that liked him and was getting dunked at the dc . i was actually scared it would happen so i told him to wait until the c assembly where it would be more intimate. then i told him he should make sure that is what he wanted and to do it for himself. my wife who is far more dedicated a jw than me agreed with me which diffused the situation. one of the elders going over the questins asked him why he stopped with the questions but my son is quiet and didnt give him the answer he wanted so he asked me and i told them he wasnt ready and not to pressure him which worked. less than a year later my boy is getting stares from jws every meeting as he has let his hair grow out some (not shoulder length it just covers his ears and forehead) he has recieved negative comments for this and one of his friends is told by his mother not to talk to him because of his new look , this woman has no class she married 2 "worldy" men and lives off of state welfare and she judged my boy for having a different hair style. i know this post is kind of off subject but i plan on saving the young ones in the hall starting with my own.

Did you ever know any JW's/Pioneers who frequented popular nightspots and got drunk?
by James_Slash init used to make me sick at these hypocrites.. they would be at the meeting the next day or out in field service, obviously still intoxicated from the night before but putting a show on before the congregation.
i knew a couple of girls who would be regulary doing this over a weekend yet they would be pioneers all week, answering up at the meetings yet would be heading into popular nightspots and coming home at 4am drunk.
their dad was an elder (surprise, surprise).. i remember telling an elder about this once.

yep, my wife and i would frequent clubs with our friends one was an elder a couple were pioneers. even went to cancun with another couple elder/pioneer. we stayed on the resort drinking at the pool bar until evening, but the resort bar tab was 1600.00 for a week. so much hypocracy i gave up caring, they just worried about getting caught.

it hit me fast i had panic attacks and became angry with all the control in my life.
(being a jw) i had just found out i was being screwed on a real estate development project by another self righteous jw i have known for a long time but this was a big loss (about 4 months pay plus expenses).

did you have clicks in your hall, we had the too good to invite you over for coffee one. the we drink and hit on each others wives one. the im telling the elders your chewing gum one. the im too sexy for this suit/dress one. i was a part of the if i have to hear this talk again im blowing my brains out click. i hated the bs but if you were a new study we will all love bomb the shit out of you and pretend we all get along. it became obvious that love wasnt there

about a year ago i went through a mild meltdown. it hit me fast i had panic attacks and became angry with all the control in my life.(being a jw) i had just found out i was being screwed on a real estate development project by another self righteous jw i have known for a long time but this was a big loss (about 4 months pay plus expenses). i have lost more money employing and working with my brothers than non jws and had even stopped hiring jws. anyway i dared to look at apostate material and after a wikapedia lookup went on to specific jw info sites and started my search and i was truly blindsided. i have always had a problem with shunning, the blood doctrine, even the paradise and after reading c of c i realized it was just a man behind the curtain there is no great and powerful oz. i have missed a lot of the meetings and told my wife i will never knock on doors again. i dont bring up how i feel much and never bash the org we have 20 years together and i will try to work on her own doubts slowly. it sucks i want to expose the society to her but she is not there yet. i have been lurking here for awhile and truly feel some of the same anger and pain that is honestly written here i am already being shunned by some of my conditional friends. anyway i feel this site is far from a bunch of angry foaming at the mouth apostates and wanted to introduce myself.
